Race for the Snapdragon 888: Xiaomi announces Xiaomi Mi 11 with a new SoC
Xiaomi’s Mi 11 will be one of the first smartphones to feature the new Snapdragon 888 SoC. The announcement was made during the virtual keynote address by Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Tech Summit 2020 .
The Xiaomi M11 is expected to launch alongside the Mi 11 Pro and while no announcements have been made regarding its specs or features, speculation suggests that the smartphone could come with a 48MP ultra wide-angle camera and at least 6 GB of RAM and run Android 11 out of the box according to Geekbench listings.
Rumors have suggested that the Mi 11 Pro, which will come alongside the Mi 11, should feature a QHD + display and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Mi 11 and Mi 11 Pro will debut in January of next year and will ship with MIUI 12. Chances are the Mi 11 Pro will also be powered by the Snapdragon 888 under the hood.
The Xiaomi Mi 11 succeeds the Mi 10 which was announced at the Snapdragon Tech Summit last year and then launched in January 2020. The Xiaomi Mi 11 has been presented as a cutting edge product.

The new Snapdragon 888 SoC is the successor to last year’s Snapdragon 865 and comes with the Snapdragon X60 5G modem and a sixth-generation Qualcomm AI engine. The chipset is rumored to be called the Snapdragon 875.
